I just had a incredible reveletion.

I've been thinking about #PurpleMoon, a video game developer in the 90's who made games targeted for young girls (i.e me at the time.)

These games taught you the importance of friendship, discovery and acceptance.

I played every one.

They inspired me to make games. I wanted to make games that treated characters with compassion like #PurpleMoon games.

Years later at @AC4D I found Brenda Laurel's "Design Research: Methods & Perspectives." https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/design-research

This inspired me to become a design researcher.

@AC4D I hadn't met any other game makers + design researchers like myself, so I assumed those fields were unrelated.

Today, while researching a devlog for a game I'm developing about early 2000's LiveJournal culture, I saw something that shocked me.

Brenda Laurel made #PurpleMoon.

She inspired me to become a design researcher, which I've been doing for 6 years.

How do you thank someone who has had such a huge, hidden impact on your path in life?
